last working day for 2009
today is em's last day...
it's also the last working day for the year. wow! how fast time flew. anyway, they've planned to have lunch out today since it's the "last day" for the year. we originally planned to go to this restaurant called nasi lemak but it didn't push through. we were all too busy all morning since all transactions have to be done, pending ones need to be settled before the year ends. and so, we just though to cancel the lunch out, and just order food. but then, we still went on with the lunch out at the last minute, hehe. just had a hard time deciding where to go. finally settled to try Tramway in Banawe.
when we got there, whoa! so many people. hehe. reminded me of one time em and cris tried this small restaurant near office which serves buffet for 99 pesos only. only difference is the place being larger and of course the food. i felt that the food at the 99 resto were just tenderized meat, not the real ones. hehe.
anyway, we were all so hungry that we didn't talk much during the meal, hehe. only after then we realized that our stomach didn't had time to adjust since we ate much on very empty stomach..
when we got back to office, it's back to work again, when 6pm came, it was again picture taking with the branch setting.. then, one by one people started leaving for home. then it's just em, sir jojo and me left. it was then i realized how fast time flies, can i finish all my stuff before the DAY comes? coz i see em earlier still not finished packing, cleaning, etc. i just have to really really focus cleaning up and all starting next week. and also i have to start listing down things i do for my turnover. argh! how should i start? by day? week? month?

at last
last week, just before we went for our christmas vacation, i approached our boss to tell her about my plan to resign next year. it was hard since i don't know how to start and it was a very busy day plus we came back late from lunch out / despedida. anyway, after much crying (i just can't help it, my tearducks are sooo bad) she told me to think things over. although i really wanted to tell her last thursday that i've decided already, i waited until today so as not to dampen the holiday spirit.
and so, i emailed her that i'm pushing through with the resignation. and that i might just use my available leave once i'm done with the turnover.
let's just hope that we find a replacement for me asap. whew!
* i need to make a plan / list of things i do in preparation of the turnover. but... where do i start??????????

train man
finally got my copy of "train man"... hope it's worth the wait. hehe...
after checking out fully booked (the block) for a couple of times, at last... a copy for me.. hmmm... when will i start? i mean, when will i finish it, hehe... been very picky with my reading materials lately, i get bored easily, tsktsk...
also got a copy of Drama Queen, the last of the cosmo books i've been collecting, this is i think their first book. can't find any copy in all the bookstores i've went (partcularly different national bookstore outlets), only to find a couple of coplies at fully booked in the block which i frequent. hehe...

time for myself
one of my favorite things to do -> riding the public transpo alone (chance to observe people, quiet time for myyself, emo mode) hehe...
one of the reasons why i love going to 168, especially alone. aside from the fact i like looking around for new stuffs, clothes, etc. i most especially love the ride going there and home. hehe. call me weird but that's me.

addicted to fb
ohhhhh.... this is soooo bad... it's been a couple of weeks already and still i can't get this sort of addiction to playing fb out of my system.
before, i used to tell my sister i'm ok already with friendster, but i can't exactly remember now why i've created an account in facebook, and the rest as they say is history. now, it's almost everyday that i log on to fb. not just to check on what's the latest among my friends, but mainly to play. haha.. too hooked up on those games, bad bad bad.
anyway, what games do i play if anyone would ask? mafia wars, castle age, robin hood, street racing, farmtown, bejeweled, pet society, farmville, restaurant city. but i think it was a month or 2 ago when my laptop started to irritate me so much as it kept on popping notices about having low disk/memory space and since then i can't play a decent game, especially restaurant city which i got hooked up to.
by then, my attention was caught by another game, cafe world which when i tried was somewhat similar to restaurant city. but this one was running quiet ok with my laptop, since then, i've been playing it (twice a day.. hehe, got too addicted, told you)
now, when i go online, fb is still my main site to visit. of course, checking on my friends' latest updates and off to the gaming world. i think i'm focused on less games now. i just don't know when i'd get tired of cafe world, i hope soon (it's taking too much of my time, it's really bad), mafia wars, a little of farmville.
i really have to start taking it off my system and start pursuing my other things to do like keeping this site updated.

just watched "jennifer's body" with 2 younger sis..
wasn't very happy, especially with the ending. endings really make or break a story for me.

issues - the saturdays
can't help playing the song again and again...
The Saturdays - Issues Lyrics
Sometimes, I feel like I’m going out of my mind
Boy the way you do me its a damn crime
But then you smile at me and its alright
With you there ain’t no in between
Every time that i walk out the door
Tell myself i cant take it no more
Theres a part of me wont let you go
I keep saying yes when my minds saying no
Me and my heart we got Issues
Don’t know if I should hate your or miss you
Damn I wish that I could resist you
Cant decide if I should slap you or kiss you
Me and my heart we got issues (Issues, Issues)
It’s over boy you leave me hanging for so long
You empty out my love until its all gone
You change the words but its the same song
I’m tired of the melody
Change my number and throw out your clothes
But my feelings for you they still show
I keep building a wall round my heart
Then I see you and it all falls apart
Chorus
Why fight it, cant hide it
Truth is i think i like it
Confusion, illusion
Still I don’t know which way to go
Chorus

typical day at work - you experience difficulty with your computer, ask for IT's help, they can't pinpoint the exact reason for your dilema. their final verdict? it's the VIRUS. let's reformat your PC. (ohkay... haha. no offense to my dear IT friends.. )

it was checked, reformat, etc. now it's time to observe if there's any change.
now we know the downside of small sized laptops, also small sized memory. hehe..

another scrapbook challenge
Okay... I admit I'm too lazy this past weeks, make that extra lazy (coz I'm always, lazy, ever since.. haha). Anyway, when was it, I think barely two weeks since K filed her resignation, meaning, another scrapbook "ordered". At least I know I now have someone to seek help from (Issa, hehe), but the task of asking for messages, was now designated to me since EM said she might just breakdown. Ohwell, I knew it would be hard, based from past experiences, but, the fact that there's not really that much people to ask around for message makes it much much harder. With K just being with the group for more than 2 years makes her know much lesser people compared to those who resigned earlier (and was with the institution longer).
Anyway, aside from the fact some people just prefer to ignore me, I'm now down with the limited messages I got. What do I do???? Of course I have back-up plans, but the more I think about it, the more I get depressed thinking what if she won't like it? What if the other people think it's ugly? wwwaaaaahhhh... And this just went on for days. With me busy with work and too tired to think about it when I'm home. Yeah, I'm bad not to prioritize or assign it to Issa, sue me.
And so, tomorrow's K's last day / despedida. What will happen? I don't know. I don't want to think about it. Anyway, tonight,I'll just try to pick the pictures I'll have printed for the scrapbook. Then tomorrow will have the pics printed, the messages printed too. And bring along colored papers. Have to find also my paraphernalias. I wonder where I put them again. Hmmm....
Will post again tomorrow what happens. hehe... Goodluck to me. :)

books thoughts
It's almost the end of August which means, September's just around the corner. :)
I can't wait for the Manila International Book Fair on Sept. 16 - 20, 2009 at 10AM to 8PM at Exhibit Halls 1-4, SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.
This is one of the major events I always wait for yearly. I can't miss it or else, I don't know what'll I do.. Just kidding. hehe..
Anyway, aside from the yearly book fair, the different bookstores around (I'm just not sure if all of them) especially National Bookstore (my favorite shop, hehe) also hold one of their yearly book sale during this period. That's why I try to keep away from buying books especially those internationally published and just wait for the sale to save on the price. hehe.
And so, National Bookstore announced their book sale which would run from August 28 - September 20, 2009. But of course, I'd still wait for the Book Fair and buy my books there since there would be freebies when you buy there during the event. So, I just walked aisle per aisle looking for possible books to buy and listed them for further considerations. I also dropped by Fully Booked for their display of new books and I found some nice ones which i included in my list.
When I got home, i researched one by one the books on my list, looked for reviews where I usually depend my decision if the books are of good read or not. After my "research", I was disappointed to find out that only 3 are good buys, 5 are so-so and 4 didn't get good reviews. Oh well, I have to look for other books to add to my list, else, I might go on a bookshoppingspree and buy books that I might regret later on buying..
So far, here's my books list (which I really hope will have more in the coming days) :
Be Careful What You Wish For - Alexandra Potter
Time Travellers Wife
Train Man - Nakano Hitori

President's Restaurant
I can still remember when we were younger, almost all family gatherings were held at the President's Restaurant in Ongpin. It came to a point that I got tired of the place, the food, everything about it. Then came a time when it just closed down. I don't know when exactly. Just that when we would be in the area, I would see it closed.
Then, sometime last month I think, it was opened again. Of course, mother kept on hinting father that she wanted to eat there. Of course, to try and see what's new and all. And so, this morning we left earlier to have lunch outside, care of my sister (in celebration of her birthday).
We got there quite early, to be sure we'd get seated. The place is still nice, typical chinese ambiance, well lighted and all. So, we then proceeded with ordering. It was hard having so many choices and not knowing which ones we would all like. Anyway, after a long deliberation, our orders were placed and we waited to be served.
Below are the pics of the food we ordered. I personally think that the serving was not that big (or did father ordered them in small sizes?), anyway, good thing we somehow ordered a number of variands, else I'm afraid we might not get satisfied.

Soup

Broccoli with crab meat

Fish

Mixed Meat

Noodle

Steamed chicken with mushroom

Sweet and sour pork

Yang chow fried rice
When we left, the place is already full packed, goes to show the place still has it's old and new patrons.
Our bill I think was around just very little over 2K. Tip: some chinese restaurants give discount when you pay in cash. Think savings! :)

What's your personality love style?
haha... this somewhat true... just not on the part of not developing a crush on someone overnight, that's possible for me as long as i get to know the person... haha :)
http://www.quizbox.com/personality/test80.aspx
Here is the analysis:
You desire a love that will last forever. You are quite serious about finding this type of love, and that's why you think carefully about the men that you meet before deciding whether you could really love them. You don't just develop a crush on someone overnight: you look at a person's personality and other aspects of their life before deciding to form an attachment. If a guy doesn't meet your expectations, you would rather be alone. Your love has to be perfect. Be careful though, you could be missing out on some worthy relationships because your standards are so high.

romance novels - teleserye style
I just saw on tv the teaser of abs-cbn for their new show. They're going to do an adaptation of Precious Heart Romances (PHR) novels. At last the entertainment industry finally realized that there are a lot of good stories written by our very own writers. After checking on updates on the teleserye to start on may, i found out that they'd chose some of earlier released novels. I just hope they'll also do the other series and novels published by PHR. And like what the other avid readers say, we just hope abs-cbn does justice to their adaptation of these well loved novels.
I still remember back in college, we had this art appreciation class where we get to talk about any form of arts. I kept wondering why does our entertainment industry especially the movie industry keeps on making adaptations / remakes of international movies and telenovelas made famous by their original makers. I even attempted to do my book review on a Tagalog novel. Haha. Too bad my prof didn't approve, I wrote about a filipino published comic book instead. :)
Now, let me just reminisce on how I got hooked up on Tagalog pocketbooks. I think I read my first Tagalog pocketbook when I was in elementary. I would borrow some books from my auntie who reads them. I would even be reading them secretly since our parents are totally against pocketbooks, what more of Tagalog ones. Most people have this misconception that these kind of books are just for the maids, people from the province, the cheap, baduy population. What they don't know is that these books actually have more realistic stories since it's easier to relate to most of the characters in their stories. The authors try to "filipinize" and make their characters as close to the real people, aside of course from the times when their stories are fantasy oriented. When i was in college, it was then that I started actually buying my own pocketbooks. I would also still be borrowing and reading tagalog pocketbooks available in the library. But what were available in the library are the ones that I think are more of the classic / older version. hehe... My personal preference are more of the modern / younger generation written novels. Now that I'm working and earning, I'm having some difficulty in keeping all the books i've collected over the years. Just a few weeks before, I finally decided to just sell those that I like the least, to make space for the ones I really like, and the new ones to come. Hehe. Anyway, until now, I still haven't made any progress on my online shop. That, I'll update on some other time.

Cooking cooking...
cooking without my tastebuds
today's a first for me on cooking 2 of the most common if not the easiest dishes common to Filipino household : Menudo and Tinolang Manok.
I've grew up eating them at home every once in a while but it's always been cooked by either my aunt or lola (during my younger years, hehe). I think around last year my sisters had their chance in cooking those 2 dishes, good for them, but bad for me. I wasn't able to ask them or my aunt or lola how to cook! haha... and so, our menu ealier for lunch was supposed to be the menudo. since i've got no idea how to start cooking it, i just know tossing them all and pouring over them tomato sauce and water and let them cooking while boiling. haha... so, i searched over the net on how to cook menudo. i found one blog about easy cooking and viola! my very first menudo for lunch. i learned that i just need to sauteed onions with oil, cook in the meat, let it boil with the tomato sauce and water, put in the carrots and then the potatoes (but have to fry the potatoes first to avoid it being mashed later on, but i guess my mom's right, mashing the potatoes depends on how you stir the food) anyway, the outcome's ok, i think... haha... ooohhhh.... may i just share that the menudo i grew up at home is not the typical recipe? the usual menudo's main ingredients are : pork or any meat i guess, liver, hotdog, carrots and potatoes. but at our house, it consists of : pork, chicken, carrots and potatoes. hehe... but they're just the same.. i guess..
then comes chicken tinola cooking for dinner, i guess this one's easier. i just sauteed ginger in oil, tossed in the chopped chicken, let it boil, dropped in some broth cubes for flavor, tossed in the sayote when it boiled, let it boil some more and when the veggies are tender, dropped in the dahon ng sili and it's done! haha...
so, my learning today? don't cook when you're feeling sick! especially when you have colds or clogged nose (like me). i had a hard time knowing if the food tastes ok coz my tastebuds are not working! waaahhhh!!!!! anyway.. just have someone try your dish. haha... instead of attempting to season it with anything or everything. that'll be bad.. i tell you... haha... happy cooking !

Last Wednesday, i finally finished reading the book after i think, almost two weeks of non-continuos reading. my verdict? i didn't like it much... too bad. i was hoping it was a good one based on the comments etc on the back cover of the book and it being supposed to be much talked about. well, i guess it was somewhat like the twilight saga, it was hyped to create an audience impact. honestly, i don't even know who ricky lee is. until i read about him interviewed by newspapers as part of marketing his newly published book. then again, blame it on me being too much curious with the title of the book. anyway, while reading it, i felt as if i was back in my college filipino literature class. wherein i had to read a book by a filipino author and analyze the content and submit a written paper on it. haha... it was mainly about love, how there's supposed to be a quota, only 1 out of 5 get to be completely happy. how sad... but could be true. well, basically there's the 5 stories of 5 female characters. there were some funny and noteworthy parts but the entirety was quite... i don't know... i just can't decribe it at all, i just find it odd. then, there's how the story was presented and how it was ended, i just didn't quite get the idea why it was presented that way. my rating : 3

last night, we had a "get together" dinner at trinoma. i didn't even bother asking where exactly until later that day. anyway, they're talking about going to this place called ruby tues (didn't even heard of that). but, after em consulting cris on the place, she was told that it was quite pricey and the serving's small. she was also asked what's the consideration in choosing the place. em said, somewhere you'd try once. so, ruby teus it was, just for the sake of trying, right? but, along the way (we left office super later than supposed to be and were caught in traffic) the other 3 we're meeting suggested we dine at cafe briton instead. ok. when we arrived, i found the place super nice. it was cozy and the ambiance is really nice, especially the place chosen by our group which was at this "hidden" side of the place. super privacy for us especially we were goofing around, laughing and taking pictures and all. then the food, i really had the hardest time of all deciding on what to order. the menu basically have sandwiches and crepes! how am i supposed to tame my growling stomach? haha... after tossing and turning the menu, i finally settle on go-fish sandwich (salmon over eggs sandwich). and later on shared an order of "la pinay" crepe as suggested by larnz & lei. my verdict: won't go back there again! haha... why? i find it over-priced and not at all satisfying nor filling. the sandwich, when it was served, my first instinct was, where's the fish!? so, i took the knife and tossed the eggs looking for the fish, only to later on (after several seconds) realized that those reddish pinking thing above the eggs were the super thinly sliced salmon! haha... i really thought those were just tomotoes as added decorations... and there's just hmmm, maybe 5 super small thin slices of it, that's all? and they're raw! i don't eat raw (like those sushi stuff, eeeewwww!) but, i had to settle my hunger then so i ate them "closed eye/mind" ignoring the idea of them being raw. and the eggs... i don't even understand how it was prepared. they were mushy, gooey and everything so un-egg-like! then the crepe, it was ok, nothing spectacular. good thing was it's generously filled with mangoes. haha... price-wise, haven't got any to compare it with, so, it'll have to be ok for now.

My Weekend and More...
whew! time sure flies soooo fast... i can't believe it's already the 12th day of january... oh, today's also the last day of eo with us... and, we're supposed to give her the scrapbook as our token/gift to her. but, guess what, i'm still so not yet done with it... haha.. well, i never finished any scrapbook on time anyway.... but, this time, i really know i could have made it on time. if only i was able to get the messages on time. but, i didn't! so, i can't do anything but suffer rushing everything. and, of course, it was just last friday that i gathered what we were able to collect and had to make do with what i got. i went to netopia last friday after work to have the pics be printed and i then had the weekend to finish the scrapbook (that's really my plan). but, saturday came, had to do kitchen stuff which took my the entire morning.. hehe... then, after lunch, i was got so bored and not in the mood to do the scrapbook. so, i watched dvds instead.. haha... by nighttime, still, nada.. can't even conseptualize the layout... so i just did some cutting etc. sunday came, i'm kinda in the mood, was able to imagine how i'll layout everything just before i went to sleep the night before. but, interruptions again! was told that i'll go out with dad that to the market and buy some stuffs along the way. oh well, then, we came home just before lunch, i passed by netopia again to have some additional pics be printed. then, after lunch, our family went out (usual sunday malling, hehe) i was able to buy some new art stuff... hehe... though they were quite pricy, i'm still thinking if they're worth it.. but so far, i'm happy with them. so, i was just able to finally start doing the scrapook, sunday night. as in night, around 8 or 9pm... haha... worked on it until around 1130. then went off to sleep.... this morning, i was cramming, trying my best to finish the thing, but had to stop and prepare for work... haha.. i was really thinking of not reporting already... haha... anyway, it was already late in the afternoon that i was able to work again on it. i really believed i could finish it, but, later on, around 530, i gave up. i told them, i won't give it today... haha... i just can't do it anymore. and if i try, it will just look trashy. and i don't want it to be, besides, partly my mind's programmed that eo said before that it's ok for her not to get it soon, just as long as she gets a scrapbook. haha... so, i have some more days to spare finishing it...

Thoughts
(holidays)
haha... it's again like, what? how many days since my last post? tsktsk.... i'm soooo bad... hehe... anyway, today, the list of holidays for 2009 was finally announced by our HR. it still hasn't sinked in me yet... hehe... the nearest holiday so far would be on April yet. hmmm.. although, there's kalookan day on feb. 16, but, we don't know if we'll be reporting for work or not... hehe... oh well, let's just wait and see...
(resignations)
with the recent resignations of elaine o. and martin, there's going to be some changes (again) in our office layout. this is also with the supposed to be coming in of 1 new hire... let's just hope and pray that he'll stay longer than the other 2 last year... hehe... oh well, have to plan and contact people again regarding the transfers of work station.... haaayyy...
(e.o.'s scrapbook)
waaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!! e.o.'s last day is already on monday and still what we got is an empty scrapbook... haha... well, in fairness, the scrapbook itself is pretty.. haha... i'm still so not in the mood to do it since there's just only how many messages collected so far. how can i plan on the layout etc if there's just few messages and more pages of scrapbook to fill in... urgh!!! so, no choice but to wait and wait and wait hoping for messages to come. if not, i don't know. i might just have to enlarge the printing of messages (?) to fill one page each or worse comes to worse, just tear out the excess pages... waaahhh... just have to work double time tomorrow asking for last minute messages.... and have to finish it all this weekend... whew!

New Year's Day
haha... the first day of a new year's come to an end. well, what have i accomplished today? aside from being too sleepy, maybe due to the medicine i've been drinking.. hehe..
tonight, i've uploaded to this site the books i own... so far, it's not yet complete, i still have to search for pics of some of the books i got... hehe... anyway, this would be sort of a reminder for me to go and read my books... hehe... i'll try VERY hard to finish at least a book in a month.. hmm... i think i'll do.. oh well, good luck to me then... maybe i'll try to make some review corner here for the books i've read so far... whatdoyouthink????
*p.s. : last night, or early this day, was so far the best new year for me... ask why? because this is the first year ever that there are very few fireworks outside. i usually dread the new year's eve because of the noise outside,,, it really scares me and i really really hate noise... hehe... anyway, last night was rather tolerable, maybe it's also partly because there's rainshower, but still didn't kept the people from having their fireworks outside... hope next year will also be a rather peaceful one.
