my first encounter with the word "jejemon" was yesterday from a friend's fb update about a group named "gotta catch the all jejemon" or something like that. then, this morning, manila bulletin's SCU featured several articles about jejemons. i actually read everything and i hated it. from my understanding, jejemons are those who has this "special" way of typing words. jejemon which came from jeje = hehe (they say that this is from pronouncing Juan with J sounding like H thus hehe became jeje).
anyway, from the samples cited in the articles, i was so irritated and had a very hard time understanding what they meant. if before, people would add extra letter H to words and names to make pa-cute, with jejemons, extra letters are everywhere!
although i agree with those interviewed if they are pro or against jejemons, rico blanco even compared it with gay lingo and the other pinoy lingos appearing every now and then (like churva, lurkey, etc). but as my mom said, it's not comparable 'coz with the gay language and the other lingos, they only "create" their special words to replace the normal ones. but with the jejemons, they totally "overhaul" all of the words which makes it totally hard if not impossible to understand what they mean. it's much worse than the text lingo.
i also came to know that gibo was actually against this and they say he has a picture spreading with a note about making these jejemons return to elementary. hehe. this is really a very disturbing news which would really affect (for me) Filipinos' reputation. though these jejemons would say that this is just their way of expressing themselves, to stand out or be cute, most people find them as being idiots who do not know how to spell. too sad coz there are some educated ones that are influenced to be jejemon typist.
